A 21-year-old man from Staten Island, New York, died following a shooting early Tuesday near the area of Godwin Avenue and Rosa Parks Boulevard, according to police.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 3:49 a.m. and located ballistic evidence at the scene. While investigating, police received information about a car accident in front of Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center.

One of the vehicle’s occupants, a 27-year-old man from Paterson, exited the vehicle and went into the hospital, where he was admitted with a gunshot wound. The other occupant, the man from Staten Island, was found inside the vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Paterson Police Detective Bureau at 973-321-1120.
