A winter storm is expected to blanket Paterson and nearby areas with 5 to 7 inches of snow starting Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. The storm warning will remain in effect from 1 p.m. Sunday through 4 a.m. Monday.
The snow is part of a system impacting southern Connecticut, northeast New Jersey, and southeast New York. Roads, bridges, and overpasses are expected to become slick and hazardous, with travel likely to be difficult.
Officials are urging residents to prepare for winter conditions and avoid unnecessary travel. Those who must drive should carry an emergency kit with a flashlight, food, and water and stay updated on road conditions through local Department of Transportation services.
