A 28-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday evening in Paterson, authorities said.

Police responded to the area of Market and Pennington streets at approximately 5:20 p.m. on a report of shots fired. Officers found the victim, a Paterson resident, with multiple gunshot wounds, officials said.

The man was transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not been released.
