For the last month both the city council and the mayor have held city employees hostage as they battled each other over the budget, but last night the brinkmanship ended: city council approved a temp budget.
Last night, during the temporary budget vote, 5 council members voted for it while the rest voted against it; it needed just one more vote to pass, after much agonizing — it happened that Julio Tavarez, councilman from the 5th ward, who was absent made his appearance — Mr Tavarez voted in support of the temp budget.
City employees will be paid as a result — crisis averted.
