War Veterans Want to Honor 3 Paterson Soldiers

Paterson Veterans Council, a nonprofit organization representing men and women who have served in the US Army, is hosting a dinner on November 5th at the Brownstone to raise enough money to honor 3 Patersonians who died in combat in Iraq, reported a local newspaper.

The three individuals: Gil Mercado, 25-year-old; Christian Bueno-Galdos, 25; Farid Elazzouzi, 26; all three were soldiers fighting in Iraq, where they gave their lives to defend the cherished freedoms most Americans take for granted.

The council wants to inscribe the name of the three deceased soldiers in the Veterans Memorial Park at Hayden Heights Hill of Heroes located in McBride Avenue, not far from Pennington Park.

A ticket for the beefsteak dinner is going for $50 dollars; the goal is to raise at least $4,000 dollars for the memorial. For information or to buy tickets contact Tony Vancheri at 973-303-3523.
