Hackettstown man, working in Paterson, arrested on child porn charges

A registered sex-offender, who was employed at a law firm in Paterson, has been arrested, after the Federal Bureau of Investigation traced a load of child pornography coming out of a computer stationed inside a legal firm in the City.

Kevin Rease, 32-year-old, of Hackettstown not of Paterson, had his work computer logged into a peer-to-peer file-sharing network, through which he was distributing children pornography. When agents from the FBI went to his place of work, they found Mr Rease’s work computer logged into the same p2p network, under the same username, that they initially found was sharing a large amount of child porn.

On Tuesday, April 23rd, 2013, Mr Rease was promptly arrested by FBI agents and remains in federal custody.  “As a previously convicted sex offender,” according to the FBI,  he faces “a mandatory minimum penalty of 15 years in prison, a maximum potential penalty of 40 years in prison, and a $250,000 fine if convicted of the offense.”
