A Paterson Fire Department inspection found the Paterson Museum to be a safety hazard which lead to the closure of that historic building Monday afternoon.
Authorities found rain water seeping through the ceiling and into the electrical panel; small pieces of the building fell on Market Street which resulted in the initial fire inspection.
The museum will remain closed until the owner — the City of Paterson leases it — of the building repairs it. An obscure organization currently owns the building; however, there have been contentions as to who is in charge of doing maintenance of the building, an issue that might prolong the downtime of the museum.
