Two robberies took place in two different sections of Paterson: one on 9th Avenue and the other on Coral Street.
In the first a 33-year-old man was walking near 9th Avenue and East 24th Street at around 11:45pm on Wednesday when a group of three men pushed him to the ground and fled with his possessions. The victim later informed police that one of the suspects had what appeared to be a weapon tucked under his clothing. The man suffered minor injuries, but not bad enough for a trip to the hospital.
Three hours later, at around 2:30am, an elderly man, 66-year-old, was attacked by a group of assailants, who beat him to the ground and separated him from his belongings. The suspects got away with the man’s wallet and phone. The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment. His injuries were non-life-threatening, according to Paterson Police Department.
Both incidents are being investigated by police.
