A man was wounded on North Main Street during a shootout on Sunday afternoon, according to the Paterson Police Department.

After neighbors dialed police to report gunfire in the area, police responded to the scene, at around 4 p.m. on Sunday on North Main Street, only to find a wounded man lying on the sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds. “Upon their arrival, the responding officers discovered a male lying in front of 49 North Main Street with multiple gunshot wounds throughout his body,” according to police.

The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center; the “victim was immediately rushed into surgery,” according to police.
