An Englewood man was wounded on Saturday morning, during a botched robbery on Lafayette Street, according to the Paterson Police Department.

The victim, a 46-year-old man, was unloading equipment from a truck inside a parking lot on Lafayette Street, at around 8:13 a.m. on Saturday, when two men — one of them armed — approached him. “The victim was apparently unloading some equipment from a van in a lot on Lafayette Street when he was approached by two males, with at least one being armed with a handgun,” according to police.

The suspect with the gun told the victim he was being robbed, and the two party struggled, at which point the victim was shot in the back by the gunman.

The 46-year-old, after being wounded, located a nearby fire station, where he sought help. Police were called to the station, where they found firefighters treating the victim; the man was transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, where he is being treated for his wound; his condition, according to police, is serious but stable.
