Four men and two women were wounded Monday night when a vehicle passing on Godwin Avenue opened fire at the group, according to the Paterson Police Department.

The group congregated on the sidewalk at the intersection of Godwin Avenue and Rosa Parks Boulevard at approximately 10:35 p.m. on Monday, police said.

At this time it appears that a dark colored vehicle traveling west on Godwin Avenue slowed at the intersection of Rosa Parks Boulevard and began spraying bullets, according to Patrick Murray, head of the Ceasefire Unit.

“As the vehicle crossed the intersection, numerous shots were fired from the vehicle at a group of people standing on the sidewalk area,”  Murray said.

The first male victim, 17-year-old, sustained a graze wound on the head; the second male victim, 18-year-old, suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder; the third male victim, 24-year-old, was wounded in the legs; and the fourth male victim, 61-year-old, sustained injuries to the feet, according to police.

The first female victim, 18-year-old, sustained injuries to the feet and upper torso; the second female victim, 45-year-old, sustained a gunshot wound to the foot, said police.

After firing at the group the vehicle fled, said police. “The vehicle then sped off and continued west on Godwin Avenue toward Carroll Street,” Murray said.

Police received numerous reports of shooting in the area. “On arrival, officers located multiple shooting victims, and immediately began assisting medical personnel at the scene,” Murray said.

Police rushed all six wounded city residents to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment. Murray said all six victims are in stable condition.

The investigation into this shooting incident is continuing at this time, and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Edgar Taylor or Detective Rolando Polio of the Ceasefire Unit at 973-321-1342.

cameras? license plates? Every time its so much drama.our street cameras should be set up like london's.One picks up where the other leaves off.this would insure following the criminals in real time and catching them.do our cameras even work? Is there anyone even in the camera room? Do they not see what's going on?
    changes must be made.

There is no hope for Paterson. I was born and raised in Paterson. So I grew up looking from the inside out and was smart enough to sell my house, pack up, and leave.
