22-year-old wounded in shooting on North 3rd Street

A city man was wounded by gunfire during the evening hours of Friday on North 3rd Street, according to the Paterson Police Department.

The victim, 22-year-old, was reportedly shot inside a home on North 3rd Street near Jefferson Street, police said. He sustained gunshot wounds to the face and torso, police said.

“The victim then fled to the home of relatives in the Northside section, and was subsequently transported by them for treatment,” Patrick Murray, head of the Ceasefire Unit, said.

Murray said the victim arrived by private vehicle to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center at around 8:50 p.m. on Friday. The victim is in stable condition at the hospital.

Police said the circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation.
