City council members earlier in the week opted to settle a lawsuit involving a motorist who sustained injuries while riding through pockmarked Pennington Street.

Richard Castano filed in a lawsuit in New Jersey Superior Court against the city over a June 10th, 2011 incident, in which he was riding through Pennington Street near 17th Avenue, “when his motorcycle struck two potholes,” according to city records.

Castano sustained injuries to his leg as a result of his motorcycle passing through the potholes, according to city records.

The council opted to settle Castano’s claims by paying out $62,500. Council members approved the settlement during a special meeting on Tuesday.
