A Prospect Park man was wounded during the late afternoon hours of Monday on Wayne Avenue, according to the Paterson Police Department.
The victim, 20-year-old, resident of Prospect Park was walking in the stretch of Wayne Avenue between Henry Street and Totowa Avenue at around 5 p.m. on Monday. A gunman approached him and wounded him in the leg, police said.
Police rushed the victim to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment. He is in stable condition at the hospital, Patrick Murray, head of the Ceasefire Unit, said.
“Detectives are currently canvassing the area and conducting interviews,” Murray said. “The motive for the incident is not clear at this time.”
Murray said the suspect fled the scene after wounding the victim. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Detectives Francisco Brito or Aramis Alba of the Ceasefire Unit at 973-321-1342.
