Just three days after a 24-year-old city man was wounded on Belmont Avenue and North 7th Street, city police have arrested two men charging one with attempted murder on Tuesday afternoon.

Police arrested Timothy Holland, 48, and Arturo Vizcarrondo, 56, on Tuesday afternoon. Holland has been charged with attempted murder and weapons offense, said police director Jerry Speziale.

Vizcarrondo is charged with evidence tampering, said the director.

Detective Christopher Ravallese and Passaic County prosecutor’s detective Michael Boone identified the two men as the suspects in the March 1st, 2015 shooting on Belmont Avenue and North 7th Street that left a city man with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso.

Police responded to the shooting at about 6:10 a.m. on Sunday, but were unable to locate a crime scene or victim. While still in the area, police received an alert from St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center that a gunshot victim had arrived via private vehicle.

Speziale praised the detectives for their exceptional work. “These detectives are amazing and talented individuals endowed and gifted with the skills required to be so successful,” said the director.

“Paterson Ceasefire Unit is nationally recognized and it’s clear by their abilities to immediately put the pieces together and apprehend those responsible,” said Speziale. “We will continue to focus on those that attempt to bring gun violence into the City of Paterson.”
