City police arrested two people in connection with a February 26th, 2015 shooting on East 19th Street between Park and 17th Avenues.

Robert Gore, 20, and Wanya Gore, 19, both city residents, have been charged with attempted murder and burglary, said police director Jerry Speziale. Wanya Gore is also charged with weapons offense, said the director.

Police detectives Francisco Brito and Christopher Ravallese identified the two suspects from the shooting that took place at about 10:05 p.m. last Thursday. Police quickly arrested Robert Gore on Friday, and yesterday evening officers arrested Wanya Gore.

Detectives recovered a firearm during the course of the investigation which has been sent to a ballistic lab for examination and analysis, said police.

“This is a clear message that possessing illegally or utilizing a gun in the City of Paterson will not be tolerated under any circumstances and you will be held accountable for your actions and prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” said Speziale.

Police said the 20-year-old victim was wounded in the forearm inside the 3rd floor apartment of a multi-dwelling apartment on East 19th Street. He was transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Speziale said anyone contemplating using an illegal gun in the city should think twice. “Paterson detectives will hunt you down and make sure you are held accountable for your actions,” said the director.
