A city man was wounded by gunfire during the evening hours of Tuesday as he sat on the porch of his East 19th Street home, according to the Paterson Police Department.
The victim, around 30-year-old, was sitting on his porch at around 7:30 p.m. when a unknown gunman dressed in hooded sweatshirt ran past the residence and shooting the victim in the torso.
Police director Jerry Speziale said the victim was rushed to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment.
Speziale said the suspect fled in the direction of Park Avenue.
The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital hours later.
The victim was shot in the chest and died from his injuries at 11:20 p.m. the same night, police said. Police did not release the victim’s name.
