Verizon Wireless recognized 11 New York metropolitan region employees, among them two city residents, with the company’s highest honor, the President’s Cabinet award.

City residents Abe Mustafa and Arifur Rahman were recognized for being in the top one-percent of the company’s 25,000 salespeople nationwide in sales and customer service.

“At Verizon Wireless we are constantly working to provide a superior customer experience,” Kevin Zavaglia, regional president for Verizon Wireless, said. “Our customers are at the forefront of what we do, and we commend all our President’s Cabinet winners for their outstanding commitment to exceeding our high standards in service.”

Mustafa works as a solutions specialist for the company and Rahman is employed as a general manager.

“I take a lot of pride in helping others succeed through my own experiences and achievements,” Mustafa said. “I attribute my success to my family that always pushed me to stay humble, do the right thing, and push myself to the limits.”

Mustafa began working at the Route 17 Paramus location, but was promoted last month, and now works out of the company’s New York, NY office which is located on Broadway.

Mustafa has been working for Verizon for nine years. Rahman has been working for the company for two years.

“I can attribute my success as leader to my approach when interacting with my team,” Rahman said. “I treat my team as I treat my family.”

Rahman continues to work at the Paramus location.

Winners were selected based on sales ranking metrics. Approximately 201 sales employees were recognized with the award nationally of which 42 were in the Northeast.
