Founder and director of the Passaic County Community College (PCCC) Poetry Center Maria Gillan is hosting a weekend poetry retreat with national award winning poet Laura Boss during the last weekend of May at an English manor house in Mendham Township.
The three day retreat at the St. Marguerite’s Retreat House is scheduled for May 29, 20, and 31, 2015 and is open to the public for a fee of $425. The goal of the retreat is to give writers space and time to engross themselves in their work in a serene environment far away from the pressures and distractions of daily life, the advertisement reads.
With 93 acres of wood land writers will have plenty of space and time to contemplate nature while nurturing their creative spirits.
Writers will have opportunities to read their work out loud to the group, receive support and encouragement, engage in stimulating activities to potentially create new works, and have ample opportunities for networking with like-minded individuals.
The three day retreat/workshop is open to all writers over the age of 18. Enrollment is limited. Applications can be found here.
