A Belleville man was wounded in a shooting incident on Belmont Avenue and North 9th Street during the evening hours of Monday, according to the Paterson Police Department.
The victim, 33-year-old, was found with multiple gunshot wounds on the roadway at the intersection of Belmont Avenue and North 9th Street at around 9:20 p.m., police said.
Police said the victim sustained gunshot wounds to the upper body. “At this time it appears that the victim was in the area when he was approached by two males, at least one of whom was armed,” Patrick Murray, head of the Ceasefire Unit, said. “At that time, the suspects robbed the victim, shooting him as they took personal property from him.”
The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, police said. Murray said he is in stable condition at the hospital.
