Developer hosting planting event in 5th Ward community garden

Summer-16th-Community-Garden

A leading city developer Novus Equities will kick off its spring planting at the 16th Avenue and Summer Street Community Garden on Saturday, May 9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“This community garden inspires local residents to participate in a collaborative effort that serves as a focal point and gathering place in their neighborhood,” Scott Seale, one of the principal of Jersey City-based Novus Equities, said. “Of course, the creation of additional green space and fresh, hand-grown fruits and vegetables has given ‘locally grown’ a whole new meaning.”

The developer has been maintaining the community garden situated at the corner of 16th Avenue and Summer Street in the 5th Ward for three years in cooperation with area residents and City Green, an urban gardening group.

Established in 1997 Novus Equities has been redeveloping properties on Summer Street, Rosa Parks Boulevard, 16th Avenue, and Fair Street. The company manages more than 150 apartment and commercial units throughout Paterson.

The Saturday planting event will begin at 10 a.m. with refreshments and family friendly activities like face painting.
