The Bella Green Sports Bar Grill and Liquors on Market Street received a three-day suspension from the city’s Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) board on Wednesday evening for selling spirituous liquor before the legal hour and failing to keep an employee worksheet.

Mel Lantigua, owner of the bar, accepted the suspension following a brief hearing before the ABC board. His business also known as Santana’s Sports Bar located at 215 Market Street “sold or delivered spirituous liquor in original container (package goods before the legal hour” on September 6th, 2014 at about 12:30 a.m., according to ABC records.

That same day police also uncovered Lantigua’s bar did not have an employee worksheet on site. The worksheet lists all employees working at the shop, allowing police to quickly run the names on a computer to determine whether any of them have criminal records, said ABC commissioner James Briggs.

“I hope we don’t see you here again,” said Briggs to the owner after the suspension was issued. Lantigua’s shop will be closed from Monday until Thursday of next week due to the suspension.
