Paterson’s native son and New York Jets running backs coach Marcel Shipp is hosting a free football fundamentals camp at Pennington Park on Saturday, June 6.

Shipp’s one-day football clinic runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is designed for youngsters ages 5-18. It serves as an introduction to football by teaching young people the basic skills of the game in a fun and energetic environment.

The USA Football FUNdamentals clinic is supported through a grant from the NFL Foundation. FUNdamentals includes a series of drills to teach passing, catching, and running skills. The exercises are based on USA Football’s Player Progression Development Model to make sure children are taught in an age appropriate fashion based on their physical and cognitive maturity.

USA Football serves as the official youth football development partner for the NFL and its 32 teams.
