City officials settled a lawsuit brought against the municipality by Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G) after a municipal employee pulled down a telephone pole in 2014.

Council members approved $10,100 to settle the lawsuit during a special deliberation session on Tuesday evening.

The case stemmed from a February 7th, 2014 incident, when public works employee Francisco Nieves pulled down an electrical pole after his truck was caught on overhead wires. Nieves was dumping snow into an open lot with a dump truck when the incident occurred, according to city records.

PSE&G filed the lawsuit against the city claiming damages for pole replacement.
