City police officers responding to a burglary in progress in the quiet Hillcrest section neighborhood on Friday afternoon quickly arrested a 33-year-old and a 29-year-old suspected of having burglarized a Richmond Avenue home.

Derrick Fletcher, 33, and Jamie Fletcher, 29, both Paterson residents, were arrested at about 12:30 p.m. after police officer Carmen Rodriguez, detective sergeant Steve Iacuzzo, and detective Benny Ramos conducted a search of the neighborhood.

The officers obtained a description of the suspects and located the two brothers immediately detaining them, said police director Jerry Speziale.

Both have been charged with burglary and processed at the downtown police headquarter, said the director. The two brothers live in the same home, according to police.

Speziale praised the officers for quickly capturing the two alleged burglars.

“This arrest should send a message of zero tolerance for crime in our City regardless of the circumstances,” said Speziale. “If you attempt or commit a crime, our officers will band to together to capture you.”
