Acting on an anonymous tip, city police officers arrested two teenagers on Park Avenue and recovered a gun on Friday night, said police director Jerry Jerry Speziale.
City residents Delshawn Wright, 18, was arrested on weapons charges when police responded to 309 Park Avenue. Wright was allegedly in possession of a weapon with hollow point bullets, said the director
A 17-year-old was also arrested for interfering during the arrest, said the director.
As police officers approached, Wright discarded the weapon under a car, said the director.
“The officers did a tremendous job in taking a firearm off the street in collaboration with the community,” said Speziale.
Police officers T. Holmes, R. Galiano, and I. Hicks took both teenagers into custody at about 9:40 p.m., said the director.
“I want to commend the officers involved for their quick thinking and reaction while removing a dangerous firearm,” said Speziale.
