Two city men were arrested on drug charges Wednesday and 610 glassine envelopes of heroin was recovered, according to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik.

Tahjrahmi Mason, 24, and Efrem Langston, 23, were arrested in the area of East 24th Street and 4th Avenue and charged with possession and intent to distribute heroin, authorities said.

Detectives observed a black Chrysler with Tennessee license plates pull up to the curb and park in the area. The driver, later identified as Mason, exited the vehicle allegedly with small brick shaped objects in hand while on the phone looking around the area.

Mason waved at a passing vehicle, dropped the objects on the ground, and returned to his car. 50 glassine envelopes of heroin was recovered by detectives and Mason’s vehicle was pulled over, authorities said.

60 envelopes of heroin was recovered from the vehicle, authorities said. A passenger in the car Langston was placed under arrest along with Mason.

A search of Mason’s apartment yielded 500 envelopes of heroin and $2,129 in suspected drug proceeds, authorities said.

Street value of the heroin recovered is $3,500, Berdnik said.
