A seat belt stop on Prince Street turned into a drug arrest on Tuesday afternoon leading to the recovery of 250 glassine envelopes of heroin, according to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik.
City resident Kareem Scott, 18-year-old, was charged with drug possession, resisting arrest, and was cited for breaking the seatbelt law.
Scott was pulled over in a two-door white Mitsubishi by officers Rashedul Chowdhury and Jason Michaels at around 5 p.m. in the area of Prince and Slater streets. The two sheriff’s officers approached the vehicle and Scott fled on foot.
Chowdhury and Michaels chased Scott to a barbershop on 368 Main Street where they arrested him. 250 glassine envelopes of heroin was recovered from Scott, Berdnik said.
