95 lives were saved through the administration of the overdose reversal drug Narcan in 2015, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes.
The largest number of people saved using the nasal spray was 35 in Paterson. The second largest number saved was 13 in Wayne. And third was Passaic with 11 saves, according to authorities.
The spray did not work for all overdose victims. Three people died from overdose even after the spray was administered. One in each Paterson, Wayne, and Wanaque, according to authorities.
Authorities said the Naloxone spray quickly reverses the effects of opiates like heroin.

Paterson police officers deployed the drug 34 time in the past year, authorities said.
