A city man was apprehended with 54 grams of marijuana during a traffic stop Sunday evening, according to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik.

Tramiaine Mitchell, 34-year-old, has been charged with marijuana possession and distribution. Deputy sheriff Sean Eliasen and officer John Tolerico pulled Mitchell over at around 6:15 p.m. after observing a black Cadillac with badly maintained lamps traveling on Essex and Madison streets.

Authorities discovered Mitchell had several active warrants out of Fairfield Municipal Court. A search of the vehicle yielded several packages of marijuana. 54 grams of marijuana worth $1,000 on the street was seized and $300 in suspected drug proceeds was confiscated, authorities said.

Mitchell was issued several motor vehicle summonses, authorities said. He was processed and transported to police lockup.

56 grams (two ounces) runs me $280 out the door at my favorite Denver dispensary. So while your state whizzes money down the drain chasing plants around my state rakes in a 100 million a year in marijuana taxes. Enjoy your prohibition.
