A city man is alleging police officers allegedly assaulted him before placing him under arrest on charges that were later dismissed, according to a lawsuit filed in federal court.
Christian Reyes alleges police officers accosted him while he was with a “group of friends” on May 19th, 2015 at an undisclosed location. When he questioned the police officers as to why he was being stopped, the officers allegedly became “belligerent” and “he was thrown up against a vehicle, handcuffed and searched,” reads Reyes complaint filed on May 10th, 2016.
Reyes was allegedly body slammed to the ground and dragged by his collar to a police interceptor, alleges the lawsuit.
The lawsuit states Reyes was arrested and “falsely charged with several crimes.” All of the charges against him were later dismissed, states the lawsuit.
Reyes’ lawsuit states he filed an internal affairs complaint with the police department, but did not receive any correspondence about the status of the investigation.
The lawsuit names police officer John DiTaranto and a number of unidentified officers.
