Paterson’s weekly drug sweep nets 25 arrests, police

25 people were arrested on various drug charges during the city’s weekly narcotics sweep, said police director Jerry Speziale.

160 packets of heroin, 23 baggies of crack-cocaine, 16 baggies of marijuana, and 5 Suboxone sublingual films in the sweep which ran from June 21st through June 27th, 2016.

Police seized $1,580 in drug money, said the director.

Arrested on drug charges were city residents Jose Mojica, 22, of Park Avenue; Gesenia Mallegni, 49, of Main Street; Donna J. Holmes, 55, of Ward Street; Raymond Gonzalez, 27, of Mill Street; Dante Cody, 19, of Christina Place; Antonio Ponce, 20, of Paterson Avenue; Joel Nieves, 20, of 14th Avenue; Joshua Lopez aka “Josh,” 23, of Mary Street; Jeffrey Morales, 31, of Pacific Strret; Diany M. Garcia, 18, of Bloomfield Avenue; Darrell Williams, 44, of Marshall Street; Michael Miles, 20, of 12th Avenue; John Suszko, 44, of East 18th Street; Linda Hayes, 51, of 12th Avenue; Jose R. Rosario, 40, of Madison Avenue; Shelton G. Stewart, 21, of East 38th Street; Doing Graham aka “Don,” 22, of Ellison Street; Clarence J. Johnson, 50, of Jackson Street; Yan Dominguez, 20, of Mary Street; Manuel D. Duval, 21, of Jackson Street; Mustafa Amir Hemaid, 28, of Dakota Street; and Lorenzo Baez, 61, of Spring Street.

Police also arrested Brandon H. Huling, 28, of Hopatcong; Michael J. Bergbreiter-Piazza, 28, of Andover; and Luis A. Gomez, 34, of Saddle Brook.

Huling and Mojica were arrested at 511 East 23rd Street on June 21st, 2016. Huling was charged with having 10 glassine of heroin and Mojica with having 3 baggies of marijuana.

Mallegni, Holmes, Gonzalez, Cody, and Ponce were caught in the corner of Mill and Slater Streets on June 22nd, 2016.

Cody and Ponce allegedly had 6 baggies of crack-cocaine. Both allegedly sold 3 baggies to Holmes and Mallegni, according to police.

Mallegni and Mallegni were charged with having 3 baggies of crack-cocaine. Gonzalez was charged with having 6 glassines of heroin.

$163 was taken from Cody and $350 from Ponce in suspected drug money, said police.

The next day, June 23rd, 2016, police arrested Nieves, Lopez, Morales, and Garcia at 620 Main Street.

Nieves allegedly had 2 baggies of marijuana. Lopez allegedly had 3 baggies of marijuana. Morales had 2 baggies of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, said police.

Garcia had 7 baggies of crack-cocaine, according to police.

On the same day, police caught Williams and Miles at 394 Main Street. Miles allegedly had 8 baggies of marijuana; he sold 7 baggies to Williams, said police.

$135 in drug money was seized from Miles.

Suszko and Hayes were arrested at 75 Godwin Avenue on June 24th, 2016.  Hayes allegedly had 21 glassines of heroin of which he sold 7 to Suszko, according to police.

Hayes also had 10 baggies of crack-cocaine.

Rosario, Stewart, and Graham were arrested on Broadway and Summer Street on the same day. Police said Graham and Stewart sold 5 Suboxone sublingual films to Rosario.

$58 in drug money was confiscated from Stewart.

On the same day, police arrested Bergbreiter-Piazza with 50 glassines of heroin, at 462 10th Avenue.

Gomez and Johnson were arrested with a baggie of marijuana at 620 Main Street on June 27th, 2016.

Police said Johnson sold 1 baggie of marijuana to Gomez.

Dominguez and Duval were arrested at 252 Spring Street during the same day. Dominguez was charged with having 2 baggies of marijuana and $288 in drug money, according to police.

Duval had 14 glassines of heroin and $153 in suspected drug money.

On the same day, police arrested Hemaid and Baez at 619 Main Street. Baez had 59 glassines of heroin, 29 of which he sold to Hemaid, said police.

$207 in drug money was seized from Baez.

“The narcotics division will continue with their efforts to hit the supply and demand of illegal drugs impacting our city,” said Speziale. “Those who sell drugs in our city will be targeted with strict enforcement.”
