An 18-year-old city man driving in a stolen Honda Accord was arrested with half-pound of marijuana on Lafayette Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard early Wednesday morning, according to police.

Delsean Pinchom was charged with drug offenses and receiving stolen property. Police officers Robert Shirey and Brian Culmone spotted the 2003 Honda Accord on 12th Avenue and East 23rd Street after it was reported stolen out of 8th Avenue and East 22nd Street, where it was left running with key in the ignition, earlier in the night.

Pinchom eluded police when the car passed through Madison Avenue and Market Street. Sergeant Brian Morgan observed the car in the area, but lost sight of it at 21st Avenue and East 25th Street.

Police were unable to locate the vehicle at 7:50 p.m. An alert was issued to all police officers. The vehicle re-surfaced seven hours later.

Shirey and Culmone locked in on the vehicle. Passaic County Sheriff’s corporal Craig Goodson got behind the two officers as backup. Pinchom, who was the sole occupant inside the car, was pulled over.

½ pound of marijuana was confiscated from the vehicle, said police.

“This is an example of police officers diligently searching for a vehicle that was stolen,” said police director Jerry Speziale, praising the work of the officers. “We appreciate the assistance of our law enforcement partners from the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department that assisted with the stop.”
