A city man was arrested on drug charges on Sunday morning after failing to halt his vehicle at a stop sign on 11th Avenue and East 28th Street in Paterson, according to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik.

Naason Wimbash, 26-year-old, allegedly failed to halt his red Dodge vehicle at the intersection at around 9:44 a.m. resulting in a traffic stop. Corporal Ken MacNish and Officer Jason Katz were struck by a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.

Wimbash was asked to exit the vehicle. A large bulge in his groin area contained 70 grams of marijuana and 375 empty small ziplock baggies used for drug packaging.

Authorities charged him with marijuana possession, possession with intent to distribute 1,000 feet of a school, and drug paraphernalia possession.

Wimbash was found to have 2 active warrants out of Paterson for $1,000, authorities said.
