An individual was struck and killed by train at the Madison Avenue and Ellison Street grade crossing early Monday evening.

Police director Jerry Speziale said authorities are on the scene investigation the incident. The individual, who has not yet been identified, was struck at about 6:45 p.m.

A crowd gathered at the scene and a freight train halted at the tracks.
