Firefighters extinguished a single-alarm fire at the Westside Grill on Union Avenue that left the Hillcrest section restaurant closed on Wednesday morning, said deputy fire chief Pablo Del Valle.
The fire started in the first floor basement near the exterior wall of the mixed-use 2.5 story building located at 275 Union Avenue at about 9:31 a.m., said the deputy fire chief.
Fire was knocked down by 10 a.m., said Del Valle. The business was closed after the fire, he said.
“We’re waiting on board of health to deem the business safe to operate,” said Del Valle. He said the board of health was at the scene.
Del Valle said no one was injured in the blaze.
