A 16-year-old who ran away from home was located by police on Thursday evening in the area of Parkway and Seeley Street allegedly dealing drugs, according to police.
Detectives Jeffrey Robinson and Hommy Cruz witnessed a drug transaction at about 6:30 p.m. while searching for the boy in the area. A further investigation led them to the apprehension of the runaway.
8 Alprazolam pills and 12 clear plastic baggies or 11 grams of cocaine was seized from the teen, according to police.
The vicinity of Seeley Street is known as a high drug and crime area.
Police charged the boy with various drug offenses. He was processed and remanded to the Essex County Juvenile Detention Center.
“The juvenile division will also participate in making a safer city by removing the legal drugs from our streets,” said police director Jerry Speziale.
