Paterson man wounded in the arm in Highland Street shooting, police

An 18-year-old city man was wounded in a shooting at the intersection of Highland and Sparrow Streets early Friday morning, according to police.

The victim was with a group of people at the intersection at about 3:45 a.m. when two armed men walked up to them and began firing numerous rounds at their direction, said police director Jerry Speziale.

Speziale said the victim was struck in the arm as he tried to flee the area on foot. Police officers responded after receiving multiple gunshots fired in the area. The victim was taken to St. Joseoph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Police said the 18-year-old was treated and released from the hospital.
