22-year-old Paterson man wounded in buttocks in Godwin Avenue shooting

A 22-year-old city man was wounded in the buttocks early Saturday afternoon while standing in front of a home on Godwin Avenue, according to police.

Police found the victim inside the residence while responding to a call and report of shots fired on Godwin Avenue between Carroll Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard at about 1 p.m. He was wounded in the buttocks, said police.

The victim had arrived at the location minutes before multiple shots were fired. The victim attempted to take cover, but was struck while doing so, said police. He was taken inside the home after being struck for his safety until police and medics arrived, said police.

Police said the victim was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center where he is in stable condition.

The police are seeking community assistance in identifying one or more persons responsible for the incident. Anyone with information is being urged to Ceasefire Unit detectives at 973-321-1342 or submit tips anonymously via PatersonPD.com
