Seven city residents were arrested on Thursday for allegedly distributing marijuana from two Governor Street addresses, according to police director Jerry Speziale.
Half-pound of marijuana and $10,987in cash was confiscated in the drug bust at 196 Governor Street and 205 Governor Street, said the director. Police also confiscated 74 glassines of heroin, said the director.
Police arrested Prince Carter, 35; Nathaniel Brunson, 27; Thomas Womble, 37; Genar Nortfleet, 29; Marycarmen Montalvo, 25; Neame Sanchez, 21; and Zoran Beal, 45.
Carter, Nortfleet, and Womble were charged with having 44 baggies of marijuana weighing 206 grams and 74 glassines of heroin.
Carter, who lives at 196 Governor Street, had $9,996 in suspected drug money. Womble had $167 in drug money, said police.
Carter, Nortfleet, and Womble were charged with selling drugs close to School 6 and Norman Cotton Housing Complex. The three were also charged with having drug paraphernalia in their possession, said the director.
The three sold 1 baggie of marijuana to Sanchez. Sanchez, Brunson, and Montalvo were charged with marijuana possession, said police.
Beal was charged with having 26 baggies of marijuana weighing 71 grams, said police. He was also charged with dealing close to School 6 and for having drug paraphernalia.
$824 in drug money was seized from Beal.
Speziale said the drug bust was a long term investigation. He said a second group of police officers arrested “numerous” members of a marijuana distributing ring outside of the locations.
