Firefighters doused a single-alarm blaze that began at an abandoned home on Godwin Avenue on Wednesday morning, said deputy fire chief Frank Calamita.
Fire was reported at 10:30 a.m. at 175 Godwin Avenue. Calamita said the blaze damaged neighboring, 173 Godwin Avenue, which is also an abandoned property. He said the latter property previously experienced a fire.
Firefighter put out a flame at 173 Godwin Avenue on August 2015, according to news reports.
175 Godwin Avenue collapsed due to this morning’s fire and requires emergency demolition, said the deputy fire chief. He said firefighters battled the blaze at the two-family home for two hours before bringing it under control and remain at the scene.
No one was displaced or injured at the scene, said Calamita.
