A fire at a two-story house on Harrison Street displaced 13 people on Friday afternoon.
Fire at 207 Harrison Street came in at 1:06 p.m. Firefighters observed a burning window frame at the home upon arrival. Fire was quickly extinguished.
The two displaced families are being provided emergency assistance for temporary lodging, food, and clothing by the American Red Cross.
“I lost everything to water damage,” said Demetries Robinson, who lives at the home, on Saturday morning. She was shopping at Walgreens when the fire broke out, she said.
She stayed at a local hotel, she said. “I haven’t slept since yesterday,” she said. She lived at the home for the past seven years. The house has been boarded up.
Robinson visited the home to see if she could retrieve some of her belongings.
The Harrison Street fire happened just hours before the fast spreading fire on Rose Street that destroyed three homes and damaged others.
