Paterson woman wounded in the leg in 12th Avenue shooting

A 27-year-old city woman was wounded in the leg in an early Saturday morning shooting on 12th Avenue and East 23rd Street, according to police.

Police said the victim was standing close to the intersection at about 3 a.m. when shots were fired in the area and she was struck in the leg.

She was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment. She is in stable condition there and is expected to be released, said police.

This is the second shooting on 12th Avenue and East 23rd Street this year. A 20-year-old man was shot in the leg on March 1st, 2017.

Paterson had 27 shootings in 2017 so far. 25 people have been wounded in shootings so far. 9 people have been killed either in shootings or stabbings.
