Paterson awards contracts for $1.56 million public safety communication system upgrades

The city awarded a $595,315 contract to a Bergen County company for the purchase and installation of hardware for its new unified public safety communication center, according to city records.

Gold Type Business Machines, Inc. of East Rutherford was awarded the contract on June 13th, 2017. The firm will provide dispatch servers, fire and police computer hardware, third-party indoor vehicle hardware, and NetMotion software.

The award is part of a $1.56 million project to upgrade the city’s antiquated public safety communication system.

The city also awarded other contracts:

  • $149,705 contract was awarded to Gold Type Business Machines for purchase and installation of IP Fire Station Alerting (IP FSA).
  • $481,689 contract awarded to SHI International Corp. of Somerset for purchase and install of ProPhoenix computer aided dispatch (CAD), police GPS, and other software plus hardware.
  • $272,079 contract awarded to Plainfield-based Carousel Industries of North America for call taking hardware and software.
  • $20,367 for cabling and hardware for the Carousel 911 system to work with Avaya communication manager system. This contract was awarded to Parsippany-based Strategic Products and Services.

The five contracts amount to $1.51 million. The goods and services are being secured under state contracts, according to city records.
