Firefighters put out two building fires on Robert Street and Cliff Street on Wednesday evening.

The first fire was reported at 11 Robert Street at 6:43 p.m. Firefighters found smoldering fire in the wall of the two-story structure.

Second fire was reported at 122 Cliff Street at 8:48 p.m. Fire was in the basement and spreading to the upper floors.

Firefighters had both flames under control within an hour. Eight people or two families were displaced from the Robert Street building, according to the American Red Cross which is providing temporary lodging and emergency assistance.
