The city council approved $196,000 on Tuesday night to settle four lawsuits. Largest of the settlement was paid out to Fairfield-based attorney Patrick J. Caserta.

Caserta’s firm worked for the city. It has not received payment of legal bills going back to 1998, according to city records.

Council members approved $117,000 to settle his claims.

The second biggest settlement was approved for Jahan Adamson. According to municipal records Adamson was injured when a city recycling truck struck him. He will receive $39,000 from the city.

Adamson was a minor when the incident occurred.

In the third largest settlement, an owner, SF2 RE 4 LLC, of two properties – 110 4th Avenue and 136 North 5th Street – filed to clear property titles of liens sold by the city for boarding up the properties.

$25,000 settled the property owner’s claims.

Council members also approved $15,000 to settle a claim filed by police officer who injured himself while restraining an emotionally disturbed individual.

The council approved all four settlements in an 8-1 vote. Councilman Michael Jackson voted against the settlements.
