A city man wanted on burglary and drug charges was arrested early Monday morning in his bedroom while in possession of a shoe box containing 278 bags of crack cocaine and 310 glassine envelopes of heroin, according to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik.

Randy Ward, 21-year-old, was cornered inside his East 18th Street home at around 8:52 a.m., authorities said. Two detectives entered his apartment and two remained outside to secure the perimeter.

Ward was found in his bedroom. Upon sight of detectives, Ward tried to flee through a bedroom window, authorities said.

Detectives stopped and handcuffed him. In the bedroom, detectives observed in plain view an open shoe box with two plastic bags. Both bags contained 278 bags of crack cocaine and 310 glassine envelopes of heroin, authorities said.

Authorities said drugs seized is valued at $1,500 on the street. Ward was charged with drug possession, distribution, and distribution in a school zone. He is being held at the Passaic County Jail.
