A city man wanted on outstanding warrants was arrested on Monday afternoon following a chase through Carroll Street, according to Passaic County Sheriff Richard Berdnik.
Anthony Alston, 47-year-old, was seen walking west on Carroll Street at around 5:20 p.m. He saw detectives approach, dropped a black grocery bag to the ground, and fled on foot towards Ellison Street.
Detectives chased behind him for two-and-a-half blocks. He was located in a backyard attempting to scale a fence.
Authorities said Alston was caught and taken to Passaic County Jail. He was wanted on two warrants issued on January 18, 2018 for theft, resisting arrest and eluding with a motor vehicle, authorities said.
Alston was charged with hindering apprehension and resisting arrest by flight.
