A city man was attacked by a group of men and shot on Atlantic Street on Saturday night, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.
The victim, 37-year-old, was targeted by a group of people at the intersection of Newark Avenue and Atlantic Street at around 9:06 p.m. Several males exited a blue vehicle and attacked the victim, authorities said.
Police said during the attack one of the assailant shot the victim. The victim sought assistance from a homeowner who called the police mistakenly believing the victim was a burglar.
The victim was taken to Saint Joseph’s Regional Medical Center for treatment, authorities said.
A day earlier, a 30-year-old man was shot, when three males exited a car and carjacked him. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact police.
