Teague: Welcome back, students

letter-to-editor-hq

As we prepare to embark on a new school year in one of the best school districts in the state, I wish to welcome our students back and encourage them to follow their dreams, achieve their goals and be the best they can be. The greatest treasure of a nation is its children.

If the children are well the community will thrive.

The children are the future. As we train, lead and guide them we will also invest in the future. Parents should be encouraged to attend all meetings and activities geared towards helping the children to succeed. A partnership between parents and teachers is imperative as it will allow them to find solutions to any issue whether inside or outside of the classroom.

We are preparing to return to local control, with that comes a great deal of responsibility. It also means that we must all the more diligent in making sure we meet the academic benchmarks required to remain a locally controlled district. One child who struggles with school is one too many. As a community we must go above and beyond to make sure all our children succeed. Parents, teachers and administrators should all unite to achieve this goal. In short, it takes a village to raise a child. All the best in the coming school year.

One of the best school districts in the state?? Was Teague high on crack when he wrote this? Paterson is a joke and the school district is a joke. Social promotion is the norm, who cares if the students are functionally illiterate, we don't want to lower their self-esteem so they get promoted even if they cannot read or write on a third grade level. Meanwhile thanks to the corrupt unions the teachers all drive brand new cars and earn full time pay for working 6 months out of a year, if you can even call it that.
